According to a whistleblower, the current White House administration has overruled 25 security clearance denials.
Tricia Newbold, a White House security specialist told members of the House Oversight Committee that the decisions to override her office’s denials could jeopardize national security.
In a letter to White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, Committee Chair Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) wrote, “She also reported to the Committee that she has been targeted for retaliation after declining to grant security clearances based on longstanding national security protocols.”
NBC News reports, according to Cummings, Newbold has urged the House Oversight committee to take action to “bring the integrity back” to her office.
