“Widespread public outcry” has saved 21 cherry trees set to be removed to make way for a giant stage ahead of the NFL draft in Nashville, the Tennessean reports.
The trees will now be moved and replanted, not cut down, according to Mayor David Briley.
An online Change.org petition seeking a reprieve for the trees garnered nearly 35,000 signatures.
