The US Senate has gone ‘nuclear,’ using a controversial maneuver to clear the way for presidential nominations.
The move Wednesday now means that only a simple 51-vote majority is necessary to end filibusters instead of the 60 votes usually needed.
NBC News reports it’s the 3rd time in the past six years that the ‘nuclear option’ has been used by the majority party. Democrats utilized the tactic in 2013 to confirm President Obama nominations.
