US Attorney General William Barr told Senators “I think spying did occur.” Barr made the comments Wednesday in testimony before the Appropriations subcommittee.
NBC News reports Barr was asked by New Hampshire Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen why he’s looking into the beginnings of the Trump-Russia collusion investigation.
“For the same reason we’re worried about foreign influence in elections … I think spying on a political campaign – it’s a big deal, it’s a big deal,” the Attorney General replied.
Barr would go on to say, “I feel I have an obligation to make sure that government power isn’t abuse.”
