
Famous whistleblower Edward Snowden has weighed in on the arrest of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, calling it “a dark moment for press freedom”.
Snowden, a former NSA contractor who famously leaked classified information to Wikileaks in 2013, tweeted the Assange’s arrest will “end up in the history books”.
Assange was arrested Thursday morning at the Ecuadorian embassy in London and has since been charged by U.S. authorities with conspiracy to commit computer hacking.
Snowden is also facing charges in the U.S. and has lived in Russia under politcal asylum since 2013.
