Two Chicago police officers are in hot water after a surveillance video emerged showing them using excessive force on a high school girl.
The video, which turned up late Thursday, shows the officers tackle 16-year-old Dnigma Howard, violently drag her down a flight of stairs, punch her and use a stun gun on her. It contradicts the officers’ account of the January 29th incident, which they’ve maintained began when the girl attacked them. The assault caused all three to fall down the stairs, they’ve said.
Although police have since dropped the aggravated battery charges that were filed against the teen, her lawyer says Howard — who suffers from behavioral issues — was “traumatized” by the incident. A civil lawsuit has been filed against the police department, he adds.
