Wikileaks founder Julian Assange was sentenced to nearly a full year behind bars after appearing in a London courtroom on Wednesday.
Assange was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for skipping bail back in 2012, when he went into hiding at the Ecuadorian embassy. He was arrested by British authorities at that same embassy last month.
On Thursday, a hearing will be held on whether Assange will be extradited to the U.S., where he faces conspiracy and hacking charges.
