Authorities in Maryland are looking for the culprit who poisoned and killed several bald eagles earlier this year.
Wildlife officials say seven eagles have died and two more sickened after being poisoned with a pesticide called carbofuran. Investigators don’t think the suspect meant to poison eagles and was likely targeting animals like raccoons and foxes with the poisoned bait.
Bald eagles are no longer considered endangered, but are still a federally protected species. A $10,000 reward is being offered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
