FDA Mammogram changes – Understanding what the change really is
- One in eight women will be diagnosed with Breast cancer
- Screening recommendations remain the same for American Cancer Society ages 40-44 by choice, ages 45-54- annual mammogram ages 55 -75 every other year
- Breast Cancer survival increases as it is identified earlier
- Treatment is less invasive and toxic for cases identified earlier
- 50% of women have breast tissue that is considered dense, making it more difficult to identify breast cancer
- Women with dense breast tissue have a 4 X higher risk of Breast Cancer
- 38 States have some mandate on reporting of breast density
Vitamin D- Now that the sun is out longer, do we need Vit D?
- Vitamin D is more important than just bone health
- Vitamin D has been linked to lower incidence of dementia, this is more noted in women than men
- Vitamin D has been shown to help control infections
- Vitamin D has been shown to decrease inflammation
- Vitamin D has been shown to decrease the risk of diabetes
- Vitamin D has been shown to lower blood pressure and decrease the risk of heart disease
- Vitamin D has been shown to decrease depression
