Illinois lawmakers returning this week to finalize budget

One item that was not completed by lawmakers on Friday was the state’s new budget. Now that they’ve missed their self-imposed deadline, the General Assembly will return to Springfield on Wednesday. Republicans, including Representative Norine Hammond of Macomb, say that they’ve been left out of negotiations. The state’s new fiscal year begins on July 1st.
