The White Sox make a pitch for a new stadium in Springfield

White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf in Springfield today. He’s looking for public funding to build a new stadium in the South Loop. The new proposed 60 acre complex consisting of a stadium, open park spaces and apartments would be built between Roosevelt Road and 18th Street. Crain’s reports Reinsdorf is preparing to ask Governor Pritzker and other state leaders for roughly $1 billion in public funds for construction. The lease at Guaranteed Rate Field is up in 2029
