(CHICAGO) — A handful of Illinois Republican lawmakers are accusing Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker of hateful rhetoric and are calling for his impeachment.
State Rep. Adam Niemerg has filed articles of impeachment against Pritzker. He argues that Pritzker has been comparing Republicans to Nazis and says the governor must be held accountable.
In recent months Pritzker has called for mass protests and disruptions of GOP and President Trump events.
“These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace,” Pritzker said during a 100 Club speech. “They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.”
Niemerg says those comments show that Pritzker is “unfit to lead.”
An impeachment is unlikely to move forward as GOP state leaders have not backed the plan.
