(Dieterich, IL) — State Rep. Adam Niemerg (R-Dieterich) is pushing a measure to honor the life and work of Illinois native Charlie Kirk who was assassinated on September 10.
House Bill 4132 declares: “The 14th day of October of each year is designated as Charlie Kirk Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day set apart to honor the life and legacy of Illinois native Charlie Kirk who dedicated his life to protecting First Amendment principles and encouraging peaceful, open, and civil discourse.”
“Charlie was from Illinois, and he got his start in this state,” Niemerg said. “It is only fitting that we honor him for what he was able to accomplish in such a short period of time. Charlie’s life and work will live on and continue to make an impact in the arena of ideas and political thought and debate. His influence and significance cannot be denied. We should honor one of our own by declaring his birthday, October 14th, Charlie Kirk in Illinois.”
House Bill 4132 has been introduced and awaits assignment to a legislative committee.
