(Evanston, IL) — Parents in Evanston rallied Sunday where they protested plans to close several schools next year.
District 65 is trying to balance its budget and at the same time find an estimated $188 million that is needed for building maintenance and repairs. That money, according to the district would carry those various projects over the next 15 years.
There are currently 10 elementary schools in the district. Plans being floated by officials say three to four schools could be closed after this school year.
They also say some schools have seen a decline in enrollment.
