(CHICAGO) — A judge is expected to decide today whether or not to issue a emergency restraining order with regards to conditions at the ICE facility in Broadview.
In court Tuesday, detainees testified and claimed the facility was overcrowded and unsanitary.
The government blames Illinois state law for the overcrowded conditions. The judge will render his decision this afternoon.
Meanwhile, a federal judge will hear a lawsuit challenging ICE’s use of force against protesters and the media.
There is now a request to ban agents from using any type of chemical agents. Currently federal agents are supposed to give at least two verbal warnings before deploying tear gas.
