(MINNEAPOLIS, MN) — Speaking at a press conference in Minneapolis today, border czar Tom Homan announced the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in Minnesota will begin to wind down. Homan said the administration was still focused on deportation efforts throughout other parts of the country but didn’t go into detail.
Local officials have repeatedly called for immigration agents to leave the state and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz had suggested Tuesday that the crackdown could be ending in days.
Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs is holding a hearing on Capitol Hill with top Minnesota officials testifying about the alleged public fraud schemes taking place in their state. The hearing comes two days after a similar one in the Senate.
