(Washington D.C.) — President Donald Trump will be joined by the Interior and Energy secretaries today and will meet refiners and distributors to discuss expanding refining capacity and slash gas prices.
Reuters reports Exxon won’t attend.
The President argues U.S. refineries and plants are “specifically meant for Venezuelan heavy oil” and says the massive oil deal will ultimately bring prices down.
Vice President JD Vance telling Fox’s Lucas Tomlinson the Venezuela oil deal was not driven by ongoing issues with Iran but said Iran has taught the world that “we need to have as much stability of supply and the oil and gas market as possible.”
Meanwhile, Axios reports President Trump has been considering a CENTCOM plan for limited strikes in the Strait of Hormuz to deter Iran and reduce the risk of attacks on oil tankers. Trump says the Iranian response has been limited but “it doesn’t mean we won’t smack them to see what happens.”
