An “evenhanded person” is needed in the administration when it comes to fighting back against abortion, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the head of the Department of Health and Human Services will be that person, the Rev. Frank Pavone, the national director for Priests for Life, said on Newsmax Sunday.
“In the past, we have had what we call over these decades the ‘abortion distortion,’ people who give the abortion industry a free pass,” Pavone told Newsmax’s “Sunday Agenda.” “All the rules apply to other areas of medicine, except abortion standards are lower and they’re violated and they get away with it.”
Kennedy has said that he agrees with President Donald Trump that “every abortion is a tragedy,” and that “we cannot be a moral nation if we have 1.2 million abortions a year.”
But a pro-life activist is not what all is needed in government, Pavone said.
“All we need is an evenhanded person, and I believe RFK Jr. is that person not to give the abortion industry a free pass,” Pavone said. “If we look honestly and you want to make America healthy again, abortion destroys people’s health.”
Meanwhile, Pavone said it was good to hear Kash Patel, the nominee for FBI director, saying he will defend the faithful, after the news about an FBI memo targeting Catholics and pro-life activists during President Joe Biden’s time in office.
“As I said all throughout the election, we’re not necessarily looking for public officials who live our faith,” he said. “We’re looking for public officials who are going to defend our right to live our faith … Liberation Day is here in more ways than one, and we’ve got to go forward boldly living our faith without fear because now the winds are at our back.”
