Colin Kaepernick’s ‘I’m with Kap’ jerseys sell out in less than a day

Colin Kaepernick announced on Monday that the “#ImWithKap” jerseys he was selling on his website sold out within hours.

“Thank you to each and every one of you that have supported this journey,” the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback said on Instagram Monday night. “The Official Limited Edition #IMWITHKAP jersey released today instantly sold out!”

Kaepernick, who is best known now for sitting out the national anthem during games to protest social injustice, made the announcement just hours after he had announced he was releasing the jersey for pre-sale.

The former NFL star initially said on Twitter he would be donating twenty percent of the earnings from the jerseys to the Know Your Rights Camp, which is a free campaign for youth funded by Kaepernick intended to“raise awareness on self-empowerment and interacting with law enforcement.”

Former NFL star began selling the shirts a week after Nike announced Kaepernick would be the face of its latest ad campaign.

The ad prompted a whirlwind of criticism from conservatives, many of whom destroyed their Nike products and vowed to boycott the activewear brand.

Thousands of shoes were handed out to kids at ‘Anti-Bait Truck’ event on South Side

A container full of new shoes opened for kids in West Englewood Sunday, as thousands of pairs were given away during an “Anti-Bait Truck” event.

Rapper Vic Mensa’s SaveMoneySaveLife foundation organized the drive after video of the “bait trucks” went viral. The Norfolk Southern Railroad organized the sting, which involved trucks full of shoes that appeared to be unguarded. Police said they left the trucks in areas near rail yards, usually with just a twist tie to keep them shut, as a way to catch people in the act of stealing.

Mensa said he had about 15,000 pairs of shoes to give away Sunday, donated by people and organizations all over the world. He fully expected there to be enough for everybody. He said he has also been in touch with group homes, and he said there have been talks of holding additional events.

The rapper’s aides said they would have shoes made by Puma, Adidas, Nike and Converse to give away.
