Feds: Dolton Water Operator Falsified Paperwork

By Nick Gale, WLS News

(Chicago) A federal indictment says former water operator Phillip Kraus of Thornton falsified paperwork to make it appear that he was properly sampling drinking water for microbiological contaminants. Even though Dolton purchases its water from Chicago, the tests are still required to make sure the water hasn’t become contaminated locally.

The indictment says Kraus failed to collect 25 – 30 samples from various points along the entire water distribution system but filled out paperwork that indicated he did. It’s alleged that while Kraus collected some samples each month, they were only from a few locations.

Krause could face up to 30 years in prison and hefty fines.
