(BURR RIDGE) A man was fatally struck by a semi Sunday night on I-55 in southwest suburban Burr Ridge, police said.

The man, whose age was not known, tried to run across the expressway near County Line Road when an inbound truck struck him at 9:49 p.m., according to Illinois State Police.

He was dead when police arrived, police said. The DuPage County coroner’s office did not immediately confirm the death.

The middle and far right northbound lanes were still closed as of 1:30 a.m. Monday. Police are still investigating the details of the crash, but no citations or charges have been filed.
