Cook County Bosses Endorse Foxx

By Bill Cameron, WLS News

(CHICAGO) In the race for Cook County State’s Attorney party bosses have changed their minds and gone from endorsing no one to endorsing challenger Kim Foxx.

It’s a big victory for Foxx’s political mentor Toni Preckwinkle, but Foxx claims she wouldn’t be Preckwinkle’s puppet if she wins.

“I’m grateful for having worked for President Preckwinkle and her administration,” Foxx said. “I’m grateful to have tackled these criminal justice issues but I am a public servant and my job will be to serve the public.”

The other challenger, Donna Moore, claims the party bosses endorsing Foxx will actually help her independent candidacy.

“Why are we afraid to elect independent people to the State’s Attorney Office,” Moore asked. “Because the powerbrokers don’t want people looking under their skirts.”

So what’s the slate maker’s endorsement worth? Maybe 30,000 or 40,000 votes for Foxx because the organization is not a machine anymore.
