Mel Reynolds Arrested

(CHICAGO) Disgraced former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds is due in an Atlanta courtroom today after federal agents took him into custody this morning.

An arrest warrant was issued in Chicago on March 31 for Reynolds after he failed to appear for a hearing in a tax case. He said he couldn’t return from Africa because he was caring for his adult daughter who is said to be seriously ill.

Reynolds has pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to file income taxes over a four year period.

In 1995, Reynolds was convicted for having sex with an underage girl and in 1997 for fraud. He was indicted on tax evasion charges last year.
