(CHICAGO) Mayor Emanuel is mocking Friends of the Parks over the loss of the Lucas Museum.

Emanuel dismisses the notion that George Lucas only has himself to blame for not landing a lakefront site for his museum. Some critics say he should have campaigned for it or agreed to an alternative away from the lakefront.

But the mayor blames Friends of the Parks for blocking the Soldier Field parking lot site with their lawsuit.

“Welcome to the most important parking lot in the country. It’s not a prairie, its not open land, its a parking lot. I still think it was the right thing to do for the City of Chicago,” Emanuel said.

But the other side says Friends of the Parks did the right thing to keep more developments off the lakefront.
