(CHICAGO) An associate of Mexican Drug Lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is set to be sentenced today in federal court.

Prosecutors have asked a U.S. judge here in Chicago to sentence Edgar Manuel Valencia Ortega, known as “the Fox,” to 11 years in prison for helping to launder more $1.5 million in drug money. He faces a maximum of 20 years, but prosecutors have said that while the 29-year-old Mexican citizen played an important role in the trafficking scheme, it was a lesser one than other traffickers.

Meanwhile Guzman, who is named as a defendant in the same case, remains behind bars in Mexico. Chicago is one of several U.S. cities where Guzman could end up on trial if Mexico extradites him.
