Extra weekend CTA service planned for Cubs game, events

(CHICAGO) The Chicago Transit Authority will provide extra service this weekend for the Cubs game and United Center events.

For the Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game at 7:08 p.m. on Saturday, the CTA will run additional Red Line train service up until the first pitch, according to a statement from the CTA. Yellow Line train service between Howard and Skokie will run until midnight. Additional service on No. 80 Irving Park, No. 152 Addison and No. 8 Halsted buses is available too.

For the Northwestern University vs. Indiana University football game at 11 a.m. Saturday, the CTA will provide longer Purple Line trains beginning at 9 a.m., the CTA said.

During hockey and basketball games at the United Center the CTA will run the No. 19 United Center Express beginning two hours before the event and one hour after it ends, according to the CTA.

Upcoming events at the United Center include:

• Chicago Blackhawks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs at 6 p.m. on Sunday
• Chicago Blackhawks vs. Calgary Flames at 7:30 p.m. on Monday
• Chicago Bulls vs. Boston Celtics at 7 p.m. on Thursday

In addition, a partial platform closure at the Cumberland Blue Line will begin 9 p.m. on Tuesday and end 9 p.m. Nov. 1, the CTA said. During the platform renewal work, Forest Park-bound trains will not stop at the station.
