(CHICAGO) Longtime Chicago resident, 51-year old Amy Krouse Rosenthal knew the end was near.

The author, filmmaker, and speaker was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015 and recently penned an essay that tugged at the heartstrings of many.  The New York Times piece was titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband.”

Her husband of 26 years told People magazine that he was “shocked at the beauty and emotionally ripped apart.”

Krouse Rosenthal wrote that her husband is “an easy man to fall in love with, a “sharp dresser,” and an “absolutely wonderful father to their three children.”  She also wrote that she hoped the right person read her essay, finds Jason, and start another love story.

Amy Krouse Rosenthal, who died Monday, wrote more than 30 books and often did random acts of kindness – whether hanging dollar bills from a tree or leaving random notes.
