(CHICAGO) A federal judge has ordered the state to substantially increase medical care funding for Illinoisans and Bill Cameron says a legislative hearing today put a face to the issue.

Democrats called in victims who are falling thru the state’s safety net to testify to a standing-room-only legislative hearing.

Joliet’s Guardian Angels Community Services chief Ines Kutlesa said her 125 yr old agency has been forced by lack of state funding to put 16 children who are victims of rape on a waiting list.

“One little girl I will call Lindsay has been on our waiting list for six weeks. She is 8 years old and was only 2 when the sexual abuse began. Then from age 4 toage 8, she was repeatedly by three different adults including her parents. What do I say to little Lindsay, Gov Rauner, when she wonders doesn’t anybody care about me?”

Rauner has sympathized with situations like this, but blames Democrats for not compromising sufficiently for a new budget.
