Speaker Madigan proposes state government anti-sexual harassment training

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) In the Springfield sexual harassment scandal, the Illinois House is holding a hearing on proposed legislation today.

Speaker Mike Madigan moved quickly to get out in front of this issue. He has a proposal to compel annual anti-sexual harassment training for state officials, employees, and even lobbyists.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rahm Emanuel is also boasting about the many women he’s put into senior management positions in city government, noting “You put women in senior positions and it changes the issue of what is acceptable because if there’s only men in positions of power it makes it’s own statement.”

Nonethless, City Hall is expanding anti-sexual harassment training.
