RTA Chairman welcomes Trump infrastructure bill for roads and mass transit

(CHICAGO) President Trump on Friday tweeted an invitation to congressional Democrats to do an  infrastructure bill for roads, bridges and mass transit.  That’s welcome news to RTA Chairman Kirk Dillard.

Dillard says CTA, Metra and Pace have billions of dollars in needs and so he’s all for an infrastructure bill.

And while taping Connected to Chicago for Sunday night at 7, he cited higher gas taxes as the way to pay for it, “The federal gas tax hasn’t been changed since 1993. It has 60% of the buying power cause it’s a flat tax than it did then.  And at the state level it’s about 1990-ish since our gas tax has been at all modified. Again, it’s a flat tax. It’s not at all adjusted for inflation.”

Dillard said he’d be stunned if challenger Jeanne Ives knocked off Gov Rauner in the GOP primary.
