(CHICAGO)  Bond has been set at $3 million for a man accused of stabbing his mother to death in her unincorporated Downers Grove home, earlier this week.

Kevin D. James, 23, of Naperville, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 51-year old mother, Patricia.  Prosecutors say James told police he “wanted to send his mother to heaven” and then planned to kill himself.  They’ve asked the judge to order a psychological evaluation.

The body of Patricia James was found in her home on the 2100 block of 63rd Street, Tuesday, after her daughter called police.  She had been stabbed multiple times.

Kevin James’ next court appearance is scheduled for January 26th.
