Senate vote seen as a defeat for Sen. Dick Durbin

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) Democrats caved after the fierce finger pointing was beginning to look bad for their side.

On the floor of the Senate, Dick Durbin had this message for the Dreamers he’s been crusading for, “To all the Dreamers who are watching today, don’t give up. I know your lives are hanging in the balance on what we do here on Capitol Hill and at the White House. Three weeks from now I hope to be joining you in celebration of passage for you in your communities of a measure that will give you in your communities an opportunity to be part of our future.”

Even if the Senate passes an immigration bill, there’s no guarantee the House will even take it up.  That’s what happened the last time the senate passed immigration reform.
