(CHICAGO) Mayor Emanuel has handed out a second round of Neighborhood Opportunity Grants on the south side.

Developers who share the wealth get to build bigger buildings. The millions they donate are plowed into grants to small businesses in economically deprived neighbhorhoods. Mayor Emanuel passed out 25 more of these grants at the Jesse Owens Park Fieldhouse.

“The energy in this room is infectious! It’s incredible when you see your dreams and your excitement about what you’re building whether it’s a pharmacy, whether it’s a restaurant, whether it’s a coffee shop.”

Emanuel promised to pass out another 50 grants in a month or so.
