State politics: Pritzker, comptroller Mendoza call for apology

In state politics, Democrats JB Pritzker – the challenger for governor – and Susanna Mendoza – the state comptroller running for re-election – are calling for an apology from her challenger, Republican Darlene Senger, because of an email.

Senger reportedly suggested in an email that Republicans could blame disabled Iraq War veteran, now senator, Tammy Duckworth for the 13 Legionaires deaths at the Quincy Veterans Home because Duckworth used to be state Veterans Affairs director.

Mendoza pounced: “Tammy Duckworth, the woman who left half her body on the battlefield serving to protect our country. Who does that?” Pritzker agreed but also called on his fellow Democrats to pass the Rauner plan to build a new quarter-billion facility at Quincy, “The most important thing is action, action now! How long has this been, for goodness sakes? We need action.”
