Emanuel critical of Vallas public safety plan

(CHICAGO) Mayor Rahm Emanuel is criticizing the new public safety plan announced Monday by his challenger Paul Vallas.

Vallas wants to hire more cops to pay less overtime in his plan for public safety.

Rahm says Vallas is leaving something out, “You cannot do it on policing without prevention. And I think the absence of that speaks volumes. I don’t know of a single officer, a single sergeant, a single lieutenant, a single captain, a single commander, a single head of patrol, first deputy or superintendent that won’t speak volumes to you about the importance of prevention and investment.”

The Mayor also says he’s on-board for an oversight monitor to restore special ed to the public schools and he says he thinks the new lawsuit against the Obama Presidential  Center is “frivilous.”
