In the Springfield sexual harassment scandal, Speaker Madigan’s right-hand-man has now been accused by a longtime Illinois House employee.

Speaker Madigans’s chief of staff, clerk of the House and executive director of the state Democratic party Tim Mapes is accused by House Minutes Clerk Sherri Garrett.

She described a 2014 meeting with Mapes, making plans for a judge at the 2015 inauguration.

“In the middle of the conversation, Tim Mapes said completely out of nowhere that I needed to make sure that I didn’t show my pink bra to the judge on inauguration day because he knows how the girls who work on the second floor like to leave little to the imagination.”

And she accused a former Democratic state rep of harassment: “In the spring of 2013, former State Representative Ken Dunkin approached the House Well and said to me and another woman, “I want to take both of you home and see which one will be the naughtiest. I reported the incident. I later heard that when Mr. Mapes was told about the incident, his response was it would blow over. He had to be forced to address the situation by a staff member.”

Garrett says Madigan has given Mapes too much power and the speaker needs to step up for the victims.
