(TERRE HAUTE, Ind.) –– Convicted murderer Drew Peterson has filed a 38-page petition hoping to convince the US Supreme Court to hear his case.

Peterson’s attorney filed the petition Monday. The move comes almost six years after the former Bolingbrook police officer was found guilty in the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio. Peterson’s fourth wife Stacy remains missing.

Nine months ago the Illinois Supreme Court upheld Peterson’s conviction.

The 64-year-old is serving 38 years behind bars for Savio’s murder and was sentence to another 40 years for a murder for hire plot targeting the Will County State’s Attorney.
