Driving Safety Program Coming to Chicago and New VW Offering

By Jennifer Keiper, WLS-AM

(CHICAGO)   You may see it on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook – selfies taken in vehicles.

Jim Graham with the Ford safety team tells DriveChicago, “We know over 31,000 people self-reported #drivingselfies since January of this year and that is eight times more than it was three years ago.  So, a lot of people are doing it.”

Ford is trying to educate 18-to-24 year olds about the dangers of taking selfies in cars…and has a free program that is coming to the DuPage Airport in West Chicago on July 21st and 22nd.  Working with professional instructors in vehicles, students and parents learn advanced driving skills in a controlled and safe environment. Registration is required and you can sign up at drivingskillsforlife-dot-com.

Also discussed on the DriveChicago program this Saturday – leasing vs. buying, a review of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, and Saturday’s annual “USO BBQ for the Troops” event.

DriveChicago airs on WLS-AM 890, at 8am on Saturday.
