(CHICAGO)  The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says it was a heart condition that led to the death of Chicago Fire Department Juan Bucio in May.

The diver was trying to find a man who had gone overboard in the Chicago River on Memorial Day.

According to the Medical Examiner’s office, Bucio had a rare heart condition and the official cause of death has been determined to be “Asphyxia with depletion of air from the diving tank due to cardiac arrhythmia due to Lymphocytic Myocarditis.”  The death has been ruled an accident.

Juan Bucio was a 15 year veteran of the Chicago Fire Department.
