Quinn term limit initiative may have hit a legal snag

(CHICAGO) Former governor Pat Quinn’s petitions for a November referendum to limit Rahm Emanel and all mayors to two terms may have hit a snag.

Quinn’s petition asks two questions. Do you want term limits on mayors but also, do you want an elected consumer advocate?

Rahm’s forces say that’s not legal. You can only ask one question per petition.

Quinn says, “The law is very clear that we have a right to do this. after getting the necessary signatures and we’re sure as heck not gonna let the mayor or his operatives take away the right of electors in Chicago to sign a petition to put a binding referendum on the ballot.”

Even right there Quinn says “a binding referendum on the ballot” not two from one petition. But, issues like this are what lawyers are for and this one is undoubtedly headed for court.
