Young voters could be key in Chicago mayoral race

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO)  Young people are notorious for NOT VOTING, but in the race for mayor, they could determine the winner.

Forty per cent of Chicagoans 18 to 24 years old ARE NOT registered to vote. This is about 90,000 potential voters.

This presents an attractive opportunity for the 22 people now angling to run for mayor, that’s right, we’re now up to 22 of them.

It’s part of the reason why Chance the Rapper thinks Amara Enyia has a chance, noting “There is no monolith in votes. We are all individuals and we will all individually say who we believe can run City Hall correctly.”

But it’s not just who Chance wants. Getting millennials to show up and vote could be the difference in this crowed field.
