Durbin’s up in 2020 and he’s not sounding like he’s ready to retire

(CHICAGO) Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), all but announced for re-election today while taping “Connected to Chicago with Bill Cameron.”

Durbin: “Let me say at this point I enjoy the job, I’m healthy, so far my wife’s put up with this lifestyle for a long time. I’ve got a lot of unfinished business I want to keep working on and I’ll make a decision next year.”

Cameron: “You’d miss it, wouldn’t you?”

Durbin: “Definitely I would miss it. This has become the major part of why I  get up in the morning. I love this state. I know it sounds kind of corny but I really do. Coming from downstate, we’ve got a great state top to bottom, and gosh I’ve had a great opportunity to do a lot of things that I’d like to continue doing.”

Cameron: “It would be news if you didn’t run, wouldn’t it?”

Durbin: “It sure would be, but you’re not going to hear that announcement today that’s for sure.”

And while taping Connected to Chicago for Sunday night at 7, Durbin was unwilling to predict a Blue Wave is coming for the Democrats in the upcoming midterms, but he doubted there’s a Red Wave coming for Trump.
