The man being held in custody by federal authorities in the alleged mail bombing case that has gripped the country is 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc Jr.

Sayoc is from Aventura, Florida. That is just north of Miami. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was part of an afternoon press conference on the arrest of Sayoc. The five federal crimes he is charged with carry up to 58 years behind bars.

Sayoc has a lengthy criminal history that dates back to 1991 including felony theft, drug and fraud charges. He’s also been accused of threatening to use a bomb.
