Pritzker finds a “new” source of money

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) In state government, the transition from the Rauner administration to the Pritzker administration is underway and the governor-elect is talking about a new source of money that you’ve already paid-for.

Pritzker revealed that Illinois under Rauner has been leaving a lot of federal grant money on the table, “I have talked to leaders of departments in the government who have said to me Illinois specifically doesn’t even go after these dollars that are available that states around you do. I want to make sure that we do everything that we can because need all the help we can get from the federal government and from private sources when we can get that to add on to the resources of the state to address challenges.”

Part of the problem has been the state’s inability in the three years of budget impasses to authorize the state matches for these grants. Pritzker cited health and human services and agriculture as two of the areas in question.
