The funeral for a Chicago Police Officer, killed in the line of duty this week, has been scheduled for Monday.

When shots rang out at Mercy Hospital in Chicago Officer Samuel Jimenez, 28, responded.  The officer, along with Dr. Tamara O’Neal, and Pharmacy Tech Dayna Less were shot and died of their wounds.
 
The gunman, Dr. O’Neal’s ex-fiance, was shot by police and turned the gun on himself. He also died.
 
Acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker has paid tribute to Officer Jimenez.  “He went towards the danger.  He ran towards the sound of gunshots and he did that so that the rest of us could run away from the danger.  He and his fellow officers saved a lot of lives on Monday,” said Whittaker
 
The wake for Officer Samuel Jimenez will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Oehler Funeral Home at 2099 Miner Street in Des Plaines.
 
The funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel of St. Joseph at Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines.  A private burial service will follow.
