Rahm to ask for a Chicago casino, legalized weed and a constitutional amendment to address pension woes

(CHICAGO) The Chicago City Council meets today and Mayor Rahm Emanuel will be delivering a speech to the aldermen recommending new sources of revenue to help solve the city’s big pension liabilities.

The Mayor is expected to ask Springfield for a casino, for legalized recreational marijuana and for a change to the pension protection clause in the state constitution.  On that one he wants to eliminate compounded 3% annual cost of living increases.

This is actually right in line with what he said as far back as 2015, ” I said up front that revenues part of this solution. Reform and revenue are part of the solution.”

Rahm is not expected to move ahead with borrowing $10 billion for pensions.
