(CHICAGO) Four suburban nurses are reportedly receiving settlement money after being attacked in the workplace.
While at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in west suburban Geneva in May 2017 a jail inmate, who was being treated there, managed to overpower a deputy and get his gun.
Tywon Salters took four nurses hostage. He hit one of those nurses with the gun, threatened to kill her and then raped her.  An officer eventually shot Salters to death.
The Daily Herald reports the nurse who was held several hours and attacked, filed a lawsuit against Kane County, the deputy who was guarding Salters and a security company.  According to settlement documents it obtained through an open records request she has received $7.2 million.  The paper says a second nurse will get $650,000 and two others will receive $25,000 each.
