Third of Americans Say Blackface Is Acceptable on Halloween

A Pew Research Center poll has revealed that a third of Americans believe that blackface is sometimes acceptable for a Halloween costume.

Fifteen percent of those polled said it was “always acceptable for Halloween”.

The issue has been brought to the forefront recently with blackface photos surfacing from Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s yearbook.

The survey showed a divide on the subject between political parties with Republicans saying it’s acceptable 25 percent of the time and Democrats about 21 percent of the time.
