(CHICAGO) At City Hall, the Green New Deal has come up in the race for City Treasurer.

Ald. Ameya Pawar says if he’s elected City Treasurer, he’ll move any of the city’s investments in fossil fuel companies into clean energy companies.  He was smartly quoting his wife about this.

“We were talking about climate change the other day and she was saying we have to move away from worshiping wealth in the market and believing that the market is going to take care of itself because even organisms and animals with the smallest brains want to survive for the long-term. And here we are as humans putting money over our own survival.”

And he says if we put money on clean energy, it will create millions of jobs.
