A member of the first relay team to break four-minutes in the 4×100 medley has died.
Thompson Mann and his teammates won gold for the US at the Tokyo games. Mann, Bill Craig, Fred Schmidt, and Steve Clark clocked in a time of 3:58.4.
The Virginia native was a 7-time All-American at North Carolina in the early 60’s.
Mann was a member of the International Swimming Hall of Fame. SwimSwam.com reports Thompson Mann died April 4. He was 76.
